    Why we compete ?

    Why do we compete? What is it about sports that make our blood boil? Why do we struggle relentlessly to the point of exhaustion just to come back for more the next day? Simply, for the love of the game. Few activities can provide that special rush of adrenaline, accelerated heart rate and the flood of endorphins the same way that sports can. It is in those times of being so deeply absorbed in the game that the rest of the world, with all of its hanging questions and responsibilities, drops out of existence and there is only the hunt. Granted, it may not be the kind of hunt that our ancestors were used to, roaming the planes in search of the next meal or fending off an attack just to stay alive, but there is definitely an element in sports that links us with our prehistoric past where it was survival of the fittest, and where not hunting would just as well mean starving.
